From the old saying: a politician looks to the next election but a statesman looks to the next generation, I conclude that President G. W. Bush is neither a statement nor a politician.

From the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal to the accidental wedding party massacre, the U.S. Force in Iraq has never demonstrated the right course of a just war that justifies their military action in Iraq. The arrogance, hypocrisy and apathy of American soldiers as shown in the Abu Ghraib scandal revealed that they had already forgotten what they were fighting for in Iraq. The reckless killing of 40 guests in a wedding party, many of which are children and women, showed that civilians lives are not valued seriously by the U.S. army. By disrespecting basic human rights and dignity of life, they act more like invaders than liberators.

After all, the war did nothing to bring closer the Islamic world and Western civilization. It fails to demonstrate the values of a modern and civilized nation for Iraqis: democracy, rule of law and mutual respect for other peoples rights. Nothing but hatred towards westerners and mistrust towards western values is left for the Iraqis after the war. They become more and more reluctant to accept comity of nations. What apart from conflicts and disputes will this unjust war bring to our next generation?

And Bush does not seem prudent enough to be a crafty politician either. How can he risk his own popularity by backing Donald Rumsfield who is obviously responsible for the recent scandals? His election will definitely be ruined if Rumsfield is not sacked.
